One of the great things that came to me through the Blythe hobby was a chance to develop my photography skills. Though I’m nowhere near as active on Flickr as I used to be, I still enjoy photographing my dolls and toys and other things.
I do feel like I have improved a lot, especially when I look back at some of my terrible old photos of poor Elvie. A word to the wise, flash photography and shiny Blythe dolls is a big gross no-no!
You can read some of my posts on photography on the blog.
Gear
Currently I use a Nikon D5100 or a Nikon D100, or my Nexus 5 with a dose of app filters/processing. Proud Android user, tried to quit Instagram but came crawling back… I’ve got a soft spot for Sony though, and used their cameras/phones for a long time. Loving plastic toy cameras and film, as hipstery as that may sound.
Projects
Sometimes I get into a bit of a slump with taking pictures, which is where fun photo projects come into play. I managed A Doll A Day 2011, but failed at the Fantastic Four 2012 – 52 Weeks of Dolls and A Doll A Day 2013. Ah well.
I’m currently co-running a photography blog with my lovely partner Dan at www.drakett.co.uk.
