Yesterday I finished work at lunchtime, which means I get a longer weekend with Dan! We were planning on having a quiet weekend in at home, with a possibility of venturing out for milk if we run out. Last night/early this morning, we received some of the snow that is causing havoc elsewhere in the country – we definitely won’t be going anywhere (in the car, at least) unless it’s entirely necessary! The snow here is nowhere near as bad as it is up in North Yorkshire, but it’s set to get worse. Well, I say worse – I love the snow, so I’m looking forward to everything being covered in the stuff.
This photo was taken just as Dan & I were going to bed last night – we were turning off the Ubuntu box which lives below the TV, and noticed that the weather desktop widget said it was snowing in Leeds. I opened the curtains to our balcony, and lo and behold – SNOW. I jumped outside in my (Dan’s) dressing gown and socks to snap the quick picture on my phone. Dan however decided that it would be a good chance to play with the new infra red filter he’d picked up for the DSLR, and pratted about with that for about 10 minutes. I was so happy when he said he was finished and we could go to bed where it was warm!
This morning we have been making fluffy American pancakes, using this BBC Food recipe. In the absence of maple syrup, we used golden syrup for a sticky sugary substitute. We have plans for cinnamon pancakes, and strawberry pancakes… maybe chocolate too, mmmmm. They were absolutely delicious, and I can’t wait to try some variations on the basic recipe.
