Meet Astrid, my newest custom Blythe doll. She’s a factory Blythe doll from Taobao, and you can see what she used to look like at her arrival post. Inspired by her deep blue hair and rich eye chip colours (thanks to her B2 Holic eye mechanism!), I went with a vaguely peacock-ish theme for this girl. Lots of purple and gold tones, and fancy eyeshadow, set off with natural, full lips.
I have carved her lips, philtrum and nostrils. Her faceup was done with a mixture of artists chalk pastels and water colour pencils, and is sealed with Mister Super Clear flat sealant. Her lips have been glossed lightly.
I’m really happy with how her lips have turned out. Her carving is more extreme than Lux’s, but still not so over the top that she doesn’t look like a Blythe anymore.
I struggled for a while looking for pull rings for this girl, and eventually landed on the gold glitter Twiggy Twiggy set. They’re so perfect against her hair…
I’m so pleased to have finished this girl… I feel like she’s got a soul now, you know? If you’re a Blythe person, you’ll understand. 😉 Next up is Penn, her factory Blythe sister with lighter blue hair.

Astrid because she has Tardis Blue hair?
Jess says
Oddly enough no – I never got into Dr Who, though people keep telling me I should give it another chance 😉 Beth (bebeimaginary) suggested it when I first got her, and apparently her “brain worked like this – blue hair > cosmic blue> cosmic > space > asteroid > ASTRID” – it just stuck.
