Hello! I’m back from BlytheCon UK and starting to suffer from post-con depression already… best write it up before it all starts fading away, yes?
Dan & I arrived in London around lunch time on Friday, and went straight to the Natural History Museum to chill out with the dinosaurs and beetles. It’s been about 10 years since I was last there, and it was the first time for Dan – a childhood dream fulfilled, finally! The boy is mad on dinosaurs…
The pre-con meet up was at the Builders Arms, where we’d snagged several tables out of the way of the crowds enjoying a few pints on a balmy summer’s eve… yes, I know, September/October, autumn blah blah, you tell that to the near 30 degree heat! It was great to see people who I’d not seen for a while, like Alice, Sam, Julieanne, Rhiannon, other Sam… and I met several people for the first time there, including Tatiana and her man, and Leo who drew our wonderful logo for BlytheCon UK 2012. Have you seen it yet? It’s absolutely fab!
The big day was Saturday – I could barely sleep with excitement on Friday! Most of BlytheCon flew by in a bit of a haze to be honest. There was a lot (no, A LOT) of shopping…
Tasty treats…
And lots and lots of chatting with Blythe friends old and new. Maja, Paula, Em & James, Bethany, Ruth, Holly, Mary-Ann… I’ve said it a million times before, and I’ll say it again – dolly people are the best.
After a little rest at the hotel, Dan & I went out to dinner with Jane, Dan, Tatiana and Bruno at a fabulous burger joint called Byron. Honestly, the nicest onion rings I have ever eaten, and a juicy medium rare burger… yum! :yum: Post-burger we headed off to Apartment 195 for the “official” BlytheCon after party. We only stayed there for one, as it was unbearably hot and our cocktails weren’t the best. A few of us left in search of a pub with air conditioning and beer on tap, and were happy to discover the Goat in Boots. I didn’t want the night to end…
I’m still totally exhausted, but getting very twitchy and excited about next year. Here the rest of my photos from BlytheCon –
Right, off to bed I think. Busy busy week and a busy busy weekend planned. :hero:
