As I mentioned last time, I have taken on the A Doll A Day challenge for 2011. I think it’s going to be a good way for me to get back into the doll hobby, and should also be an excellent opportunity for me to improve my photography skills.
So far my A Doll A Day 2011 challenge is off to a good start – I haven’t missed a day, and haven’t been tempted to recycle any pictures. All this weeks pictures were taken with my mobile phone, which I can see being my saviour for the duration of this challenge. I’m hoping once the days get longer and the light gets better, I’ll be able to get out more and practise with the DSLR. Generally I get home from work at around 6pm, and at the moment it’s getting dark at about 4pm. Using the Vignette or Retro Camera apps for Android rescues pictures from poor indoor lighting, and can give some really awesome effects.
My favourite picture this week is Blaise, my mohair custom Blythe doll, relaxing with her laptop in a snuggly Space Invaders sweater.
Blaise was a Mademoiselle Rosebud Blythe in her former life. She said goodbye to the yucky salmon coloured hair and has been rocking the ginger mohair look since August 2005. I kept a sort of diary when I was working on her, which you can view here if you’re interested in how Blaise came to be. Her little Game Over laptop came with a vinyl figure of Gaz from Invader Zim, that I have had for years and years. The Space Invaders jumper is from Woolly Rockers.
I will try to post a summary of how my A Doll A Day project is going once every week or two. Hopefully this will keep me on track! :hero:
