It’s my birthday next Tuesday (also pancake day, yay!) and lovely Dan, struggling to figure out a gift for me, offered to buy me a Birchbox subscription. I’d always wanted to try one of the beauty boxes, but it seemed like a totally frivolous novelty that I could never quite justify to myself… And I mean, it is a frivolous novelty, but surely that’s okay as a birthday present, right?
I got my first box this morning, and I’m impressed already. The packaging and design are beautifully done, and the selection of products I was sent is excellent. On opening the inner box you’re presented with a cute little drawstring bag – perfect for toting minis around when travelling. There are a bunch of cards giving info about the products, with quotes around the We Love Your Style theme of the February box. Here’s what’s inside the bag…
Nail Rock Nail Glitter – Red’s not generally a colour I go for, but red and glittery? Sign me up. I can’t wait to try this! I scored some OPI liquid sand at TK Maxx a couple of weeks back, so I’m all about glittery nails at the minute.
Beauty Protector Protect & Oil – Now this one smells edible. Sort of creamy and chocolatey, and it promises to battle UV rays, heat and breakage. My hair’s been a bit unhappy lately, so I’m curious to see if this will improve it at all.
Green & Black’s Organic 70% Dark Chocolate – Who doesn’t love chocolate? I’m especially fond of dark chocolate, so this is a win for me.
Beatitude Peace Body Oil – Smells a bit like childhood. Well, childhood when you have a mother who’s really into aromatherapy and crystals and incense. Full of ylang ylang, mandarin, lavender, cedarwood and petigrain this is a definite favourite. The only thing that could make it more like childhood is a whiff of geranium!
Urban Veda Daily Radiance Facial Wash – A good miniature face wash, vegan friendly and smells inoffensive. I’ve been using Soap & Glory for the past few months after giving up on Lush (entirely) so it’ll be nice to try this one out for a change.
Eyeko Skinny Mini Liquid Eyeliner – Okay, I love eyeliners that have the felt-tip-pen kind of tip going on, and have already used this particular liquid liner from Eyeko. It’s not my favourite of this particular style (that honour goes to the MAC Penultimate liner, which is heavenly!) but it’ll certainly get used.
I’m really looking forward to receiving more of these boxes – it’ll be like a little present every month!
Does anyone else subscribe to any beauty boxes? Should I check out any of the others?

Lovely review. A few different items than what I got in my box this month. I also subscribe to love me beauty and you beauty discovery, I would check them out, great products and sizes.
