Lots and lots of new and exciting things happening in glitterbat-land… I feel like I haven’t stopped in weeks! Happily, I have (99%) finished my Wensleydale fleece Blythe reroot, and her name is Lux. I’m waiting for some new pull string cord/pull rings to arrive, then she’ll be 100% done. I can’t resist sharing these quick Instagram photos though – she’s so sweet!
My first Blythe with sleep eyes… I don’t think the thread I have used will last too long, so I’m swapping it for something a bit sturdier. I can’t wait to switch it out and get some proper photos done!
In miserable news, I missed out on BlytheCon UK 2012 – 🙁 Completely gutted, considering the amount of work I’ve put in over the past 18 months, BUT it’s for a very good reason. As I mentioned in my flying update last Friday, I have just started working towards my PhD – I have left my job as a software engineer, and am currently settling in to my new “job” at the university. It’s a shift back towards Psychology again, with focus on gender and technology, but I’m sure I’ll just bore you with the details… In typical unlucky fashion, the compulsory induction weekend fell over the BlytheCon weekend, meaning no dolly fun for me. It all feels very strange and a bit overwhelming at the moment, but I’m enjoying it. I’m especially enjoying the teaching I’ve been doing this week, re-learning some of the statistics work from my undergraduate degree, and working with first year students.
My BlytheCon related misery manifested itself in the form of spending… I finally cracked and bought my first Susie Sad Eyes doll. Resistance is futile and all that, especially when faced with so many cute photos on Flickr. I honestly cannot stop looking at them… Just look at these photos –
1. Sulky Susies! #susiesadeyes #susieslicker, 2. Untitled, 3. Susie…her hair has a mind of it’s own., 4. Untitled, 5. Palavra de ordem: [gratidão], 6. Susie Sad Eyes, 7. Untitled, 8. Untitled, 9. Untitled
They are just a handful of my favourites on Flickr at the moment. Too cute! The Susie I have bought is coming from America, has dark hair, and only one shoe…
I’m really excited to see what she’s like in real life… I hope she arrives soon! I also managed to get a fabulous EuroTrash dress from a shop update (first time ever!) so I’m eagerly stalking the post box waiting for that to turn up. Hurry up Royal Mail!
BlytheCon UK 2012 looked absolutely awesome – everyone seems to have had a great day, judging by the pictures in the Flickr group. I’m very excited to be involved in the organising for 2013 (and 2014, but let’s get 2013 done first!) – Dan and I will be looking after the website and ticketing again, which will be going up as soon as we both get a spare minute! Lots of exciting ideas bouncing around, and again we’ve got gorgeous art to work with thanks to Leo COUTURE.
Anyway – I have lots to be getting on with, so I’ll love you and leave you for now!
