Rescued from a charity shop this afternoon, at a cost of 49 pence. That’s about 75 cents to my American friends. Possibly the cheapest doll I’ve ever bought! She was in a hat box FULL of other dolls like her, all in various weird and wonderful outfits. I may go back for more tomorrow, depending on how my weekend plays out.
I don’t usually go for sleepy eyed, creepy old dolls but this girl stole my heart. I’d love it if anyone out there who is more knowledgeable than me could give me a rough estimate on her age and history. She’s got very sparkly, bright blue sleep eyes. Her shoes come off, and are a thin, hard plastic. Her legs don’t move, and are joined to her torso and head (which is one piece, in hard plastic). Her arms do move, and are elasticated (I think?) as they spring back into place when you move them – also hard plastic. Hair feels like mohair, and seems to be glued directly to her head.
I’d also love any name suggestions for her – something a bit Russian sounding, perhaps?
